Live scores, updates and highlights from Moving Day at the 124th U.S. Open

For the first time in nearly 30 years, a debutant takes the lead into the weekend at the U.S. Open. Ludvig Åberg holds a one-stroke advantage at 5 under as play begins Saturday over Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Cantlay and Thomas Detry as the 2024 U.S. Open continues at Pinehurst No. 2.
Åberg is eyeing his first major championship -- in just his third major start -- and the young Swede has been robotic through his first two rounds missing just two fairways and six greens thus far. The four at the top are not the only notable names in contention on Moving Day, though, as Rory McIlroy stands alongside Tony Finau and Matthieu Pavon just two back of Åberg. McIlroy was not as sharp in his second round but is nevertheless within earshot of the lead as he hopes to break his decade-long major drought.

Spieth to start third round shortly
I'm really interested to see what the 2015 champion does today starting at 3 over. Here is how he ranks so far this week out of 74 players
- 4th in strokes gained ball striking
- 5th in greens in regulation
- 5th in strokes gained tee to green
- 5th in strokes gained approach
- 7th in driving distance
- 8th in strokes gained off the tee
- 71st in scrambling
- 74th in strokes gained putting

There's a chance for a fast start
Look, is Pinehurst No. 2 super baked out with lethal pins and likely to play more difficult today? Absolutely, but there is still a chance with perfect golf for someone to get 3 under through their opening five holes. Birdies have been made on No. 1 all week, the tee is up on No. 3 (with a BRUTAL pin, mind you) and the par-5 5th has been playing under par the first two days. David Puig has a great chance to do just that as he just split the fairway on No. 5 after going 2 under in his first four holes.

One hole one birdie for Collin Morikawa
That's a welcomed sight after a couple days of poor putting from the two-time major champ. Morikawa rolls in a birdie on No. 1 from 10 feet to get to 3 over for the championship and eight off the lead. Like I said with Koepka (who immediately made a double), I am interested to see where these early chargers ultimately land. I don't believe it will be a Shinneco*ck type day where Daniel Berger and Tony Finau went from the cutline to the final group on Sunday, but it wouldn't be shocking if there are some mega movers.

Back-to-back for Brooks
The two-time champion has gotten it to 2 under on the round and 3 over for the tournament with birdies on Nos. 6-7. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this going, but more importantly where a solid round would put him. If he somehow gets back to even — will that be inside the top 10 by day's end?
