A Quiet Place: Day One spoilers follow.
Ever since the first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One landed, horror fans have been filled with dread over what happens in the prequel.
No, not over whether or not Samira (Lupita Nyong'o) or Eric (Joseph Quinn) survive the apocalypse. We love those two, but even they might admit they're not the most important characters.
We're talking about Samira's service cat Frodo, played expertly in the movie by Schnitzel and Nico (yes, they have their own Instagram): does Frodo survive the movie?
For some, it could be a deal-breaker. The kind of thing you'd want to know going in to know whether you can handle the movie emotionally.
So we're here to help by revealing whether or not Frodo dies in the movie. We'll avoid spoilers where possible, aside from Frodo's fate of course, but if you don't want to know anything, look away now.
Does the cat die in A Quiet Place: Day One?
You can rest assured: Frodo survives the events of A Quiet Place: Day One with barely a scratch on him.
It's not for the want of trying. Frodo regularly wanders off on his own, casually strolling past multiple aliens and risking the lives of Samira and Eric as they try to rescue Frodo from the mess he's unaware he's in.
By the end of the movie, Frodo is on a boat to the island we saw in A Quiet Place Part II. He's on the same boat as Djimon Hounsou's Man on Island – who we now know to be called Henri – and since we saw him leading the colony in the sequel, Frodo was on one of the two evacuation boats to safely make it to the island.
Of course, we never actually saw Frodo on that island in the sequel (because Day One didn't exist yet). In the finale of Part II, the island's colony was attacked by a sole alien, who was eventually killed by Regan.
We choose to believe that through that carnage, Frodo was hiding away safely somewhere and continues to live his best life – and you can't say anything to change our minds.
